Lorsque j'ai d\u00e9barqu\u00e9 de l'avion en Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande, je ne savais pas vraiment \u00e0 quoi m'attendre. Je savais seulement que j'avais besoin de m'\u00e9chapper pendant un certain temps - de la pr\u00e9cipitation, du bruit, de la marche inexorable du temps. D\u00e8s les premiers jours, j'ai senti que le temps s'\u00e9coulait diff\u00e9remment ici. C'\u00e9tait comme si les arbres me murmuraient de ralentir, comme si le vent portait des mots que je ne comprenais pas encore, mais qui me semblaient familiers.<\/p>

Un matin, lors d'une randonn\u00e9e autour du lac Taupo, j'ai rencontr\u00e9 un vieil homme, un M\u0101ori nomm\u00e9 Rangi. Il \u00e9tait assis sous un \u00e9norme arbre pohutukawa et regardait l'eau tranquille. Il a souri et m'a fait signe de le rejoindre. Il n'a pas dit grand-chose, mais sa pr\u00e9sence \u00e9tait porteuse d'une force que je n'avais pas ressentie dans ma vie depuis longtemps.

Je suis rest\u00e9e quelques jours avec Rangi. Il m'a appris \u00e0 reconna\u00eetre le chant des oiseaux, \u00e0 cueillir des plantes curatives, \u00e0 sentir les histoires cach\u00e9es dans la rivi\u00e8re, les pierres, la brume. Mais surtout, il m'a appris \u00e0 retrouver le silence en moi-m\u00eame. Et dans ce silence, j'ai entendu ma propre voix - celle que j'avais perdue dans le bruit du monde.
Au moment de partir, Rangi m'a tendu une petite pierre - lisse, verte, grav\u00e9e de la feuille d'un arbre connu dans la culture M\u0101ori pour ses qualit\u00e9s de force, de gu\u00e9rison et de protection...
